| Salvatore
has been married to Mamma Agata for 45 years and has
been by her side from the early days of founding the
cooking school.
His experience of 40 years
in the hotel business as the Maitre d'hotel has enabled
him to acquire all the knowledge that now is put at
the disposal of the guests at Mamma Agata's farmhouse
during the events. He is now retired from the hotel
business and dedicates all ofll his time to the garden
of Mamma Agata's farmhouse.
In fact, all of the vegetables,
herbs, fruit that Mamma Agata uses during her cooking
class or for the special events (romantic dinners, buffet
pic nice etc) are produced in the garden. Salvatore
has a sincere passion for what he does and he also takes
care of the animals, including chickens, rabbits, turkey,
and ducks. His experience in growing organic vegetables
and maintaining the grounds of the farm has yielded
some of the best produce on the Amalfi Coast.
No pesticides are used,
and the vegetables are non-genetically modified. The
science of starting and maintaining a vegetable garden
will be explained and demonstrated. Some of the fruits
and vegetables will be used to make preserves. Organic
honey is also grown on premises. Salvatore will be happy
to show you around in the garden while you are there
and to explain to you the essentials: the time when
is good to plant or cut as well as other secrets of
gardening.
He also produces the fantastic
red and white wine that you will enjoy during your cooking
class or your meals. Iin September and October he
makes the wine and if you would like to join him he
will be happy to show you how to make your own wine!
For Salvatore, the passion
is what gives him the strength to do the hard work that
is required in the garden!
